9mm Federal HST 147 grain (HD)

An analysis of the 9mm Federal HST, 147 grain. we hold this exam dispelled the small ancient-fashioned misconceptions per 147 pellet bullet opening in this caliber….I’ll let the video verbalise for itself. After completing the video, we endorsed which the stretched bullet totalled we estimate .8125 opposite it’s widest spread. PLEASE NOTE: This exam was in the tranquil environment, illustrating probable ballistics; these formula have been not guaranteed. Self-defense scenarios benefaction mixed variables which will stroke ballistic performance. The law-abiding adult bears idealisation shortcoming for their ammunition preference as well as insuring trustworthiness in their handgun.

If the standard pressure 147grn hst’s perform this well, i wonder what the 147grn +p hst’s will do. Part # for the 147grn+p’s are P9HST4

@O4jampO4 the guy at the gun store is probably right, not saying the hydra-shok is dreadful but the HST is a much better round especially in that bullet weight

I like that test medium better than just a jug of water. I reckon it to be closer to flesh and clothing.

I have a box of these and will probably test at some point…just out of curiosity and maybe or maybe not confirm some folks opinions of it.

how do you feel about the federal hydrashoks 147gr. vs hst 147gr.,i carry hydrashok and i like it but a guy at a gun shop claimd its outdated and needs to siece production but i like it alot and feel hes a tool.

When I carried a G26, I had a tendency to shy away from the 147 due to it’s velocity. But, this HST is one of the hottest 147′s I’ve seen, other than DoubleTap, and I would not have any issues carrying. Slightly less expansion in this load isn’t a terrible thing.

Yes, years ago, some CorBon 125 gr JHP……jammed on the feed ramp.

tnoutdoors9, in your opinion, how do you feel these 147 grain HST will do out of the shorter barrel of a Glock 26?

just wondering if you’ve ever had any issues with ANY ammo loading in your G19… thanks

It is the best expansion I have ever seen on a 147 gr 9mm. Which might clarify why everyone seeks it out, and it’s very hard to locate. I am trying not to shoot what I have remaining.

expansion to 3/4 of an inch on a 9mm is a huge bullet.

  19. On August 16, 2010 biggin2155 says:

That’s some impressive expansion for a 9mm! WOW

excelent results. Thank you for taking the time to test so many loads for us, helping us make informed choices at the ammo counter. This would be a excellent replacement for the subpar 147g white box jhps my wife WAS using. :-)

    @ AHTSvideo

LOL I just said the same thing about the 147 gr in a response on the 124 gr HST video.

  22. On August 16, 2010 BigCockvanHugenDong says:

The problem is the smaller mass transfers less of the KE. You want to be able to dump all the energy and stop the bullet instead of having it carry high KE after it exits

  23. On August 16, 2010 AHTSvideo says:

the expanded round would make a sick necklace lol

  24. On August 16, 2010 Blk05titan26 says:

1000fps is still quicker than most 45acp loads……….

  25. On August 16, 2010 zlzgrom86 says:

    Remember, kinetic energy = .5 m v^2

So I reckon velocity is more vital.
