What excellent is any of this if this if a State goes bankrupt? Eventually, the entitlements will end and far more people will suffer.

California gives out 1/3 of all the nation’s welfare benefits, has the largest homeless population in the nation and has over 11% unemployment, the second highest in the nation.

Half of the UC schools are also extremely prestigious, top tier research universities as well. Affordable and some of the best in the world.
Under 70K and no one pays for college. Once again, welfare goes to college. This clarifies why California is in a financial crisis right now. I don’t know where you got the thought that California’s economy is number one. You must be living in a different world than the rest of us.
