If you took out a private loan for more than your tuition (stupid thought by the way) your school will issue the refund check a few weeks after the start of the term. Different schools give refunds in different ways so you will have to check with your school about it.
For future reference, avoid private loans unless absolutely necessary and stick with federal/state aid from http://www.fafsa.ed.gov
