It’s retraining for jobs in manufacturing that are never coming back in theory. In reality it doesn’t help the economy. Kids getting out of college can’t find jobs now and it’s only going to get harder now that high taxes will stifle private business.
Asking that question , you just proof that we need more money in education…..or do you want to have 300 millions people working for $1 dollar an hour.
the theory is better education =better jobs but TIME and time again evey state that throws money at education is not getting any effect there must be a better way to improve education
excellent point
How much of that money is converted into resources that really benefit the students? Or does the bulk of it simply fuel the inept, harmful and self-serving teachers’ unions? My guess is the latter and those circumstances are consistentt with the liberals’ thoughts of stimulating the economy
Well, a lot of the money is going towards repairing schools and buying school supplies.
1) The construction industry is in deep distress, repairing schools will provide work for construction companies and will produce a need for building materials which in turn will help the manufacturing sector.
2) School supplies = books and computers and sports equipment = sales = keeping the economy alive.
You’ve got a run down inner city school, you rip out the interior, rebuild and repair it, re stock it. You are going to need painters and bricklayers and drywall fitters in order to renovate a classroom, you may also need electricians and a whole host of other people.
It’s all excellent.
You’re also forgetting that the US is importing college graduates from countries like China (And incidentally they are spying on everything left right and center), and they send their money home rather than invest it in the US economy. More excellent American graduates means fewer dollars going to support families living overseas
The govenment spends money on education for a few purposes. One: political gain, it makes a fantastic argument when running for re-election. Two: for future economic gain. If the education is better and the kids learn more they become more productive in the future when they join the workforce. Three: to spend money. Give teachers more money, they are consumers, too.
Sometimes it works, but in cases like Camden, NJ all the money is stolen by govenment officials and never makes it to the schools. Their cost per pupil (total funds divided my number of students) is the highest in NJ.
I do not reckon that spending money on education is going to prevent a force such as the economy from self-destructing. It is not money that is required in education as much as reform in curriculum and in teaching approaches. As well, the education system needs to stop being as wasteful as it is and to learn to set priorities that are for the benefit of all and not jus the educators. Schools already waste enormous amounts of paper and other materials. Some teachers takes all of their allotted sick days whether they are sick or not.
Spending money on education at the expense of another area is like robbing peter to pay Paul. The highways, for example, and the hospitals might require attention as well. It will increase the flow of revenue to and from the education system but may diminish it in other areas.
Money is generated out of thin air in the form of credit. It does not have enough backing in real assets in terms of production and necessary services. On the system, in order to garner anything for oneself it is demanded that somone or some other party be robbed. It is the basic premise of the system. As well, a price is exacted for the transaction or theft. The price can take the form of monetary fees or deliberate hurt, which costs money to repair and thus generates more flow of revenue. Many of the fees are on a continuous basis. It is the reason for much of the moral corruption of our society. Overall, losses are involved, and the system, whether it is with the education of society or part of the economic and monetary sector will burn out or self-destruct.
It’s very simple!:
Improvements in Education –> High-quality human resources meaning smarter, more intelligent people–> more contribution to society: developments of unique technologies, high scientific achievements, companies would produce better results..etc–> exportations or selling of such technology to foreign nations or firms, holding patents, etc–> more money
It’s not. Kids going to college need now more than ever to realize that they need to pay for their own schooling. I did, they can too
More schools more teachers more supplies more government personal to inspect grant requests better educated population. All make jobs and prepare people for future jobs since the economy is done with manufacturing.
