   As long as you have not defaulted on a previous federal student loan, you are in a financial aid eligible major, and you are attending at least 1/2 time, you can apply for federal Stafford loans. You need to have completed the FAFSA first and then you need to check with your financial aid office to see if you are eligible.

   If you have already received these loans and you are looking for more money beyond federal aid, then you might be in distress unless you have a cosigner with excellent credit. Check with banks directly if this is where you are at.
